In an age when nonprofit organizations are struggling harder than ever to have their messages heard, the value of branding and design has become increasingly essential to their survival. A first-of-its-kind book, Designing for the Greater Good, was recently released to offer readers insights into great nonprofit branding campaigns in 24 inspiring case studies and hundreds of illustrated examples. Rochester based branding and design boutique, A3 Design, was among the few whose outstanding campaigns were selected for inclusion in this prestigious collection.
The make you look twice poster campaign created by A3 uses bold graphics, in-your-face typography, and the well-branded pink ribbon. The poster is displayed in doctor offices and medical centers to promote awareness of the proper preventative healthcare for women targeted to women in their 20s and 30s. Whether branding an identity for a nonprofit, designing invitations for fundraisers, pitching slogans effectively or creating print or online marketing material, it is essential that the graphic design of cause-related organizations attract attention to their goals, events and campaigns. This poster does just that.
Created as a comprehensive visual communication resource, Designing for the Greater Good is based on authors Peleg Top and Jonathan Cleveland’s nearly 40 years of combined experience working with nonprofits and corporate communications departments across the country.
"As designers, we harness the power of communication on a daily basis," says A3 Principal, Amanda Altman. "It is important for us to use our skills to communicate on a larger level. Nonprofit and cause-related work helps us to create a sense of purpose that is bigger than us and connects us to our community. We are thrilled to be included in the book Designing for the Greater Good and will continue to identify causes close to our hearts to create influential communications for."
Designing for the Greater Good (Harper Design, an imprint of Harper Collins) is now available to the public. Its retail list price is $50.00. www.designingforthegreatergood.com
